Transportation for America has you covered on all things infrastructure

After several years of “infrastructure week,” last November Congress did finally pass a mammoth, $1.2 trillion infrastructure law called the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This colossal investment can either turn the tide on our nation’s approach to infrastructure or entrench us further in an unsustainable, inequitable transportation system over the next 5 years. Now is the time to shape its trajectory.

To help do that, Transportation for America, a program of Smart Growth America, released a virtual guide that has the information you and your community need to get the most out of this historic legislation, and we just published our last (for now!) topical deep dive into the law, this time focusing on how the bill can improve (or exacerbate) inequities.

What can the IIJA do for me?

Don't miss these upcoming events at Smart Growth America:

The Nuclear Communities Forum is intended to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences that are vital to nuclear host communities’ economic adaptation and growth. Presentation and breakout conversations will focus on the impacts on host communities when a nuclear facility shuts down –focusing on the principles of smart growth, economic resilience, and community-level decision-making  in the face of nuclear decommissioning.

If you attended the Equity Summit earlier this year, but don't want to wait until 2023 for more—here's your opportunity! Recognizing the risk of gentrification and home and business displacement arising from brownfields redevelopment projects, event speakers will share best practices for development, planning and community engagement processes.
