Join us for the first Nuclear Communities Forum on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11am - 3:15pm ET to hear insights from the field related to the wide range of impacts that host communities and regions experience when a local nuclear facility shuts down. Local and regional leaders, planners, economic developers, utility companies and other private partners, and community organizations are especially encouraged to participate. This half-day virtual event is free of charge and open to the public. Things you will take away from the Forum: -
The technical aspects of the decommissioning process as well as planning approaches and examples of addressing the challenges that come with it; -
The national energy transition landscape and the impacts of nuclear decommissioning that are being experienced by communities across the country; and -
The many resources available at the federal, state, and local level for nuclear host communities to plan for a post-nuclear future. Participants will also have an opportunity to network with local leaders, planners, economic developers, community organizations, and other stakeholders working to address various challenges that come with the decommissioning of a local nuclear power facility. |
